Idean D. Mosley

BUTLER – Public Viewing for Idean Dukes Mosley, 67, was held at 5:00pm on Friday, September 6, 2019 at Weatherly-Studdard Memorial Funeral Home.

Idean was born July 12, 1952 to the late Sammie and Rosie Lee Dukes. She departed this earthly life on Monday, August 26, 2019 at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center in Meridian, MS. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Sammie Dukes, Jr.

She is survived by: a sister, Leanette Twilley; two sons, Courtney Dukes, Elmore Mosley; five grandchildren, Thadeus Dukes, Cateresa Dukes, Montell Dukes, Aiden Mosley, Aliyah Mosley; a special aunt, Annie Spears; and a special cousin, Tonya Dukes.

Services were rendered by Weatherly-Studdard Memorial Funeral Home of Butler.

 

Cecille D. Hopkins

LISMAN – Service for Cecille Danielle Hopkins, 34, will be held Saturday, September 14, 2019 at 11:00am at Gilfield Baptist Church.

Dani, as she was lovingly called, was born August 26, 1985 to Cecil Hopkins and Sandra Royster Hopkins. She departed this earthly life on Friday, September 6, 2019 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Willie and Adline Royster, Charlie and Mary Hopkins, and a god-child, Charlee AnnMarie Fenderson.

She leaves to cherish her memories: her parents, Cecil and Sandra Hopkins; a sister, Briana Adline Royster; a god-sister, Megan Tybrisha Smith; three god-children; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and special friends.

The Celebration of Life service will be rendered by Weatherly-Studdard Memorial Funeral Home of Butler.

 

Vena Smith

MILLRY – Vena (LouVena D.) Smith passed from this life at USA hospital at 12:12 PM August 30, 2019 at the age of 73.

Vena is survived by her husband of 53 years, Jan W. Smith of Millry; son Sean Stacy Smith of Millry, AL; grandson, Wesley Connor Smith and his fiancée Megan Tate of Robertsdale, AL; sisters, Roberta E. Jones (David) of Millry, AL, Myron Moseley (Bobby) of Millry, AL, and JoeAnn Dearmon (Lee) of Millry, AL; nieces and nephews; close friends Marge and Wayne Taylor, Jimmy Doan and other friends too numerous to name. Her parents John Marion & Elsie Waite Dearmon preceded her as well as brothers, Vince and Marvis Dean Dearmon and Sister Linda Sue Dearmon.

Graveside services were held Tuesday, September 3, 2019 at 6:00 p.m. at Healing Springs Cemetery in Millry, AL.

Felton L. Petty

PENSACOLA – Funeral services for Mr. Felton Lenoid Petty, age 83, of Pensacola, FL, were held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 6, 2019, at Phillips Funeral Home in Gilbertown, AL. Visitation was held from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. prior to the service. Interment was in the Gilbert Cemetery in Gilbertown, AL.

Mr. Petty was born February 10, 1936 in Bullock County, AL. He passed away on Tuesday, September 3, 2019, at Life Care Center of Pensacola in Pensacola, FL.

He is survived by his son, Hiram Petty of Pensacola, FL; grandchildren, Mary Petty (Will Rodgers) of Pensacola, FL and Walter Petty, Jr. of Pensacola, FL; great grandchildren, Kaiya Rodgers and Briana Petty; and brother, Hubert Petty of Brewton, AL. He was preceded in death by his wife, Oma Jean Gilbert Petty; son, Walter Petty, Sr.; daughter, Judy Petty; father, Asa Petty; mother, Victoria Bates Petty; brother, Byron Petty and sister, Mary C. May.

John D. Miller

MELVIN – Funeral services for Deacon John D. (Honey) Miller were held on Thursday, September 5, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Pineville Missionary Baptist Church, 302 Melvin Road, Gilbertown, Alabama 36908. Interment was in Kaiser Hill Cemetery with Rev. Dr. Lewis Jefferson, Officiating.

Deacon John D. Miller was born September 29, 1928 to the late Arnett & Josephine (Sims) Miller. He departed this life on August 31, 2019 at Washington County Nursing Home in Chatom, AL.

Deacon Miller (affectionately known as “Honey”) united with St. Paul Methodist Church at an early age. He later joined Pineville Missionary Baptist Church, where he became a deacon and faithful member, until his health declined.

He united in holy matrimony with Annie Ruth Kirksey on September 27, 1947. To this union, five children were born. He was a truck driver for many years. Later, he was employed by Penrod Oil Company as a member of Drilling Crew #54. After retirement from Penrod, he became an independent logger. He was an avid fisherman and loved to hunt as well. He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years; his youngest son, David; two sisters, Rosetta Anderson and Estella Brown; a grand son-in-law, John Davis; and two great grandchildren, Quinton and Jai Watters.

Left to cherish his memories are four children, Lavon Fail of Huntsville, AL; Alice (David) Lewis of Melvin, AL; John (Anita) Miller of Melvin, AL; Linda Williams of Huntsville, AL; and a daughter-in-law, Patricia Miller. Also, to treasure his memories are 14 grandchildren, Erik Fail; Sheneka Jones; Stephanie (Matthew) Trapp; Tracie Hicks; Courtney (Ricky) Banks; Brad (Stephanie) Lewis; Ira (Jennifer) Fail; Leslie (Stacey) Gill; Angela (Silas) Pascley; Alicia (Chauvon) McFadden; Jason (Laneaka) Miller; Brandi Davis; Demetra (Johnnie) Williamson; Arielle (Dexter) Williamson; and 29 great grandchildren. He also leaves, one brother, Arnett (Blondie) Miller; five sisters, Mable McGrew; Margie Porch, Gertrude Jones; Josie Rush; and Betty Price. A special nephew, Donald (Fannie) Leverett; one brother-in-law, Jimmy Kirksey; and a host of other relatives.
