Monroe Blanks

LISMAN – Service for Brother Monroe Blanks was held Tuesday, March 17, 2020 at 12:00 noon at Shiloh C.M.E. Church with Brother William Woodard officiating. Interment followed at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church Cemetery.

Monroe was born February 11, 1938 to the late Will & Rosie Blanks in Lisman. He departed this earthly life on Tuesday, March 10, 2020. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Ora Pennington, Lillian Waller, Marie Blanks and two brothers, Herbert Slay, Johnny Blanks.

Monroe confessed Christ at an early age, uniting with Shiloh C.M.E. Church where he remained a member until his death. He was a member of Winton Lodge #414 Cromwell. He graduated from Choctaw County Training School, Lisman, Class of 1958. He was united in holy matrimony to Gloria Grice Blanks.

Monroe leaves to cherish his memories: a loving and devoted wife, Gloria Blanks; four sons, Jerome (Alexandria) Blanks, Monroe Jr. (Paulette) Blanks, Michael (Bettina) Blanks, Delatorila (Vernette) Blanks; one daughter, Katrina (Ronald) McNair; one step-daughter, Gloriastein Brown; two sisters, Inell Dukes, Willie Bolden; 14 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; 2 great- great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

The Celebration of Life service was rendered by Weatherly-Studdard Memorial Funeral Home of Butler.

 

Leo Leverett

BUTLER – Graveside Service for Leo Leverett was held Saturday, March 14, 2020 at 11:00am at St. John CME Cemetery with Rev. Margret Turner officiating.

Leo Leverett was born on March 14, 1969 to Leo Leverett and Mildred Jean Jackson in Butler. He departed this earthly life on February 26, 2020. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Mildred James.

Leo leaves to cherish his precious memories: three children; two sisters, Mary Leverett of Bentonville, AR, Sherita Napier of Tuscaloosa, AL; one brother, Vincent Leverett of York; five nephews; and a host of cousins, aunts, other relatives and friends.

The Celebration of Life service was rendered by Weatherly-Studdard Memorial Funeral Home of Butler.

 

Richard J. Young

YARBO – Service for Richard Jerome Young was held Friday, March 13, 2020 from the Chapel of Weatherly-Studdard Funeral Home with Rev. Timothy Pearson officiating. Interment followed in Kaiser Hill Cemetery.

Richard was born November 11, 1946 to Bush and Vernette Young in Yarbo. He departed this earthly life on March 2, 2020. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Frank Young, Anthony Carl Young, Joseph Young; and sisters, Mary Rainey, Jeanette Williams.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories: a devoted companion, Barbara Young of Maitland, FL; three daughters, Sharon Young (Stephen) of Arlington, WA, Michelle Bright of Auburn, GA, Melissa Gwynn (Mark) of Winder, GA; one brother, Oliver Young (Alvella) of McIntosh; one aunt, Levonya Poole (Edward) of Millry; one brother-in-law; three sisters-in-law; seven grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
