FIRE DESTROYS HOME

A late-night fire destroyed the home of Ernest and Maxine Turner on Hurricane Road on Wednesday night. Volunteer fire departments from Melvin and Gilbertown were called to the scene at just after 10 p.m., but the home was already fully engulfed in flames. The Turners were in the home at the time of the fire but were able to get out without injury. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. (Photo by Dee Ann Campbell)
