Gilbertown man arrested in Georgia

POOLER, GA – A Georgia television station is reporting that a Gilbertown man has been arrested after allegedly trying to solicit an underage girl for sex.

According to a report from WJCL news, an ABC affiliate station, Lance Coby Smith, 31, was arrested on Sunday night at a recreation center in Pooler, Ga., after allegedly arranging to meet someone he believed to be a 14-year-old girl. Smith reportedly responded to an internet profile set up by authorities to target individuals who solicit minors.

The news reports stated that Smith allegedly arranged to meet the girl to take her to his hotel in Savannah. He was taken into custody by Pooler police when he showed up to meet the girl.

Smith was charged with computer or electronic pornography and child exploitation, according to the news report.

The Sun-Advocate is awaiting a response from the Chatham County, Ga, Sheriff’s Department and the Pooler Police Department for additional information on the arrest.
